Colour Negative Film in a Cape Town Summer
The Western Cape’s 2015/2016 summer was excruciatingly hot, with a heatwave and water rationing. The holidays were a combination of sunburnt grass, inflatable paddling pools and electric blue skies. I chose Lomography’s Colour Negative 100 ISO film to capture this over-saturated, mirage-like landscape.
And then the numbers, dots and arrows appeared. I thought it was my fault because when I was loading the film I lost my grip on the roll and it all unraveled around the spool (whoops). It turns out there was a huge faulty batch of Lomography 120 film that just had bad backing paper, yikes. So a bunch of my photos have these marks all over them. Despite this, I still love how intense the colours and light are and how gorgeous the vignette is.
